This is me - I am 54 years old, married for 34 years with two grown up daughters.

Working Career

My early and informative training years were spent in papermaking and plastic extrusion for a division of the Dickinson Robinson Paper Group.

My main role within the division was Management Accounting. Using the experience I gained, I then spent some time as the accountant of a number of progressively bigger industrial companies where both Financial and Management Accounting functions were required.

In 1987 my career took a marked change by moving into the leisure industry where I continued to gain valuable experience and knowledge of the music industry, restaurants and catering and - for the last five years prior to forming -my own practice, the travel industry. My last position was that of the Financial Controller of a £30million+ medium sized Tour Operator.

Having gained a wealth of experience across a diverse range of industries by taking a senior role in the Management of these companies, I felt the time was right to form my own practice.

Robert Dalby Accountancy Services was formed in April 1998 since when I have been providing varying services to all my clients. The words service and flexibility are very dear to my heart and are the driving force of the operation. I like my clients to feel that we are part of the team and not just another outside service provider hired to complete tasks to specification, take the money and go. My ambition is to grow with my clients and enjoy a long and successful business relationship

Being a person with a strong feel for the local community, setting my office up in my hometown of Gravesend in Kent seemed the correct route to take. My working career had spanned from either local positions or London-based operations and my client base has mirrored that situation

When the working day is finished…

Sport has always been my main leisure pursuit. In my younger days I played both football and cricket for local teams. Having daughters who chose athletics as there sporting pastime I enjoyed 12 years of coaching at Dartford Harriers Athletic Club. My current sport is golf and just about every Sunday morning will see this struggling 18-handicap golfer attempting and failing to improve. Of all the sports I have been involved in, golf is like a drug: no matter how poorly you play one week, you are back the next!I hope the above gives you an insight to me. As a working professional I give my all to the services I provide to my clients. In my leisure time, I'm a family man
